We are now living in the 21st century. Japan as a member of earth society and one of the Asian country, we always treasure a social system that can be adapted in the future. Nowadays, English, Chinese and Japanese are recognized by United Nations as commonly used international languages. However, actually, there are just a few qualified Japanese education courses can be found inside Japan for foreigners. Based on this reason, Tokyo International University investigates the Japanese education for long time. Finally they established the Affiliated Japanese School aimed at providing formal Japanese education for foreign students.

The Affiliated Japanese School followed Tokyo International University, which adopted the substantial teaching method. We promoted a practical teaching scheme. Our school employed erudite and experienced professionals as our teachers. We also equipped with the latest teaching facilities in order to provide a more excellent studying environment for students. The teachers and staffs are always ready to assist students to solve their problems and give guidance for them.

In the aspect of international teaching and exchange, through "live Japanese teachings", we hope that we can contribute to the society and promote international communication and understanding. After the concentrated studying process, our graduates usually can get excellent result and advance to first-class universities.

I suggest schoolmates who are coming to study in Japan, should pay attention to Japanese culture when studying Japanese. I hope our students can think about the truth of "international standard", work hard to become an international professional.

Words from the Secretary Gereral

Takashi Takano
Waseda University Graduate
Kaneko Educational Foundation Committee Member
Japanese Language School affiliated with Tokyo International University Chief Secretary

Our school is an affiliated Japanese Language School of a university.  For a long time, our school has been well-known to students aboard from many countries as their strongest choice for further education and vocational training upgrades.  Since our establishment 20 years ago, we have already supported over 2,500 graduates including those who continued their studies in Japan and graduates of teaching preparation.  At the moment, their successful achievements in various fields are an obvious fact and our proud track record.  While at school, they had all been especially hardworking in the courses that we have provided.  Not only did our courses stimulated their learning interests and provide them with professional guidance of further studies, we also encompass strict requirements for their attendance, daily living and diet, and caring directions of related health and safety in the Japanese environment.  Whether for continuing education in public or private graduate schools, universities, colleges, professional schools, or to compete in the career markets, it is our continuous commitment to assist our students in learning and understanding a complete and practical set of Japanese language skills and excel in their Japanese language proficiency in order to increase their competitiveness and support their ultimate aims.

In the course of learning the Japanese language, it is, of course, a main objective to learn how the language is used.  However, given the demand in today’s tough world, it is necessary for the students to understand the background of the language by taking a deeper look at the Japanese culture, customs, history evolvements and social changes… etc. to facilitate their perceptions of the modern Japanese community from different perspectives.

As every Asian country is advancing with the progress of time, social problems as well as economic successes that take prides in the world have also developed.  Advanced countries, nowadays, do not face merely environmental hazards; they must also confront issues including educational revolution (highly educated population), and population situations such as aging of population…etc.  In regards to these aspects, learning targets of students from Asian countries become more and more multi-diversified.  Be it study aboard or continuous education, targets of students are no longer limited to schooling purposes; they must also cover the strength of a certification or proficiency of a foreign language, the experience of foreign cultural submergence, increased cognizance of business environments and career competitiveness in their home countries…etc.

In confrontation of such trends, our school has updated our teaching plans to fulfill the different needs of each individual student.  In our new teaching plans, in spite of the basic Japanese language courses, we have also hired professionals from various fields to ensure our students can experience the Japanese culture and understand the Japanese people.  It is our mission to lead our students to thoroughly comprehend “Japan” from an international family atmosphere.

Moreover, in accordance with students who are planning to study aboard, not only do we provided courses that directly gear towards the EJU (Examination for Japanese University Admission for International Students) or JLPT (Japanese Language Proficiency Test), we have also prepared many different high level simulation topics of graduate schools entrance examinations.  Students can freely choose to attend various guidance courses depending on their own needs.

At the mark of our school’s 20th anniversary, while embracing a feeling of “A New Start”, we hope that our school can become a Japanese language school that specializes in training “International Professionals of Today’s World.”  Through the bounder-less co-operation of our prolonged mutually trusted oversea offices, colleagues and home staffs, we are solidly confident that we can support you on your road of success and to achieve the realization of your dreams.

Words of Education Director.Deputy Education Director

Education Director Yuriko Miyada
I have once lived overseas for a time to see different cultures. At that time, I can observe and analyze my own country - Japan, more clearly as an observer. I have clearer identity as "Japanese". I discover myself with little difference when speaking other languages. Dear schoolmates, do you want to find out the "undiscovered one" through studying abroad?

Deputy Education Director Sekiko Masui
You can make use of a new language to meet new cultures and thinking methods. There are many chances for you to learn. Please set up your own target. I like to see the upset look of students when they don't understand something and the cheerful look when they discover new knowledge.
Deputy Education Director Masako Yamagawa
I like to watch the traditional Japanese Opera, “Kabuki”, very much.  In the process of watching the opera, my interest towards the Japanese language history has also developed.  There is a phrase: “Language is a mirror of an era.”  The Japanese language has gone through the most and fastest changes when compare to other languages.  However, the expressions of respect, consideration, and euphemistic towards others in the Japanese language, in my opinion, have not drastically changed.
Since I started teaching Japanese language, I have been constantly touched by the charm and charisma of the language.  I am wholeheartedly delighted that I can impart this language to foreign people and share these characteristics.  It would surely be content to hear them say “It’s great to know the Japanese language!”

Speech of Senior Lecturer
Senior Lecturer Kazuko Terada
Why there are so many languages in the same earth? Why people speaking different languages can communicate with each other? Let's learn a new language to understand the wisdom of human beings.

Senior Lecturer Yuko Oyane
To fly to a new world, courage is needed. However I think one day, you must be glad that you have made a right decision to study in Japan. I hope I can help you in this period.

Senior Lecturer Miwa Hidano
You may meet some difficulties when you decide to study in Japan. However, as long as you have come, you must try to overcome all the troubles and concentrate on your study. I will help you in studying Japanese. Find me with your learning enthusiasm.
Senior Lecturer Natsumi Arai
When you speak mother language in your own country, you will never understand the trouble that you want to say something but you can't do it. However, one day when you can freely express your own idea with other language, the happiness can only be understood by people who are studying language. Do you want to experience this amazing feeling by studying Japanese?
Senior Lecturer Fumihiko Kuroda
Without the “unknown (?)”, the world would become quite boring, wouldn’t it? Wouldn’t you want to discover a new self in Japan while meeting people from different parts of the world and experience a surprising “unknown (?)” ? Perhaps, that “unknown (?)” may change your life.
Senior Lecturer Megumi Kamiya
When I was studying a foreign language, the most interesting thing was that I could also learn the culture and customs of that country through its language. From that, I am then opened to more and more excitements, a wider world, and discovery of numerous new faces. What kind of excitement do you think is ahead of you? Take just one step further, and let’s take this adventure together.
